I decided to change dental practices as I wanted a more regular hygienist service, and the plans offered by Park View Dental Practice looked ideal. The receptionist asked me to come in for an initial appointment before subscribing to the plan, which would otherwise have covered it free of charge — that seemed fair enough. The dentist who carried out the consultation was lovely. He advised me on a few optional treatments, such as a mouthguard and a possible wisdom tooth extraction — nothing urgent or essential, especially as I already see a dentist regularly. Afterwards, I went to reception to pay for the consultation and to sign up for a plan (which turned out to be more expensive than advertised online). However, the receptionist informed me that I would need to complete all the optional treatments before being allowed to register for the plan. I joined the practice specifically for regular follow-ups. If I have to pay full price for everything I need over the next five years, it rather defeats the purpose of having a plan. I had to negotiate, and it now seems I might be able to skip some of the optional treatments if the dentist agrees — although reception hasn’t contacted them yet. I was also told I still need to come in and pay in full for another hygienist visit before I may be able to subscribe to the plan, though I’m not sure whether this is standard procedure or simply an initiative from the receptionist. The receptionist made me feel as if I was being opportunistic, when I was genuinely trying to join the practice and commit to regular care. A 20% discount on a £600 bill is great, but it is still less than the cost of the mandatory examination and hygienist to be done first. I would genuinely loose money if I were to leave right after.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to DR Ian Grime. After many years of total fear of the dentist he and his amazing staff have helped and guided me through implants veneers and crowns to my front teeth. The whole process has taken a year and this morning I got my new teeth. Without the care and reassurance at every appointment I would not be feeling over the moon right now. I can’t recommend and speak highly enough of Dr Grime and his team. A special mention to Tom without his referral I would still be hiding away from photos and not eating in public. You have all changed my life. Thank you you are all an amazing team.

I had been suffering with Pericoronitis in my lower left wisdom tooth whilst visiting my family in Newcastle, I had been in the most unbearable pain & Dr Grime was the only dentist willing to see me on an emergency basis. He worked through his lunch for me, he made me feel so comfortable & talked me through everything. Dr Grime took time out of his own lunch hour to help me & not many would & I am now out of pain & I’m so grateful for it. Thank you again & if I lived in Newcastle Dr Grime would be my dentist!
