Newtongrange Dental Practice

I write this view having since left this practice after 22 years as a customer. The practice unfortunately has failed to move with the times. The disgraceful customer service through to 'dental' staff. All I can say is jump ship now if you wish to save your dental and gum health. I have found a new practice that offer the latest technology, techniques and knowledge to assist and advise regarding my continued dental health. In all, I thank Newtongrange dental practice for their substandard care and their unwillingness to provide even a basic level of customer service. Communication skills of a drowning fish. Dental skills of a ravage butcher. My new practice have just provided the best hygienist appointment I have ever had, with new equipment and technology. Change is sometimes for the best!!

I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the dental treatment I received here. The experience was far below what I would consider a professional standard. The primary issue was the quality of the work itself. I had several fillings done, and they were completed so haphazardly that I am now experiencing persistent sensitivity. The fillings also have rough, jagged edges that are irritating my gums and tongue. It's clear that the attention to detail was severely lacking. Furthermore, the entire process felt rushed. The dentist barely took the time to explain the procedure or my options, and I felt like I was just another number in a long line of patients. When I tried to ask questions, I was met with impatience. The office staff was also unhelpful when I tried to follow up on my post-procedure pain. For anyone seeking competent and thorough dental care, I cannot recommend this practice. The poor quality of the work and the dismissive attitude of the staff make this a dental office to be avoided. I am now in the process of seeking a new dentist to fix the problems created here.

Absolutely unacceptable how patients are treated here. My partner went in for treatment and they worked on the wrong tooth. She was also left waiting for over an hour past her appointment time. When she reasonably asked why the delay was so long, instead of receiving an explanation, she was struck off as a patient. I called to speak with the manager, but she was dismissive and offered no real help. This is unprofessional and extremely poor service. I would never recommend this practice to anyone, and I will be taking this matter further with the appropriate authorities.

Unbelievably poor service, it's clear they have no interest in anyone who is on the 'NHS list'. Very quick to remind you that they are very busy, which results in your appointment feeling rushed and inattentive. Very sorry to have lost a once good local service, clearly pandering towards the private sector.

Extremely disappointed with the service at Newtongrange Dental Practice. I registered with them during my pregnancy under the NHS, expecting to receive proper dental care. Unfortunately, my experience was far from acceptable. During my first appointment, the dentist (Kendal) did not address any of the issues I was experiencing. I was left in pain while pregnant, without proper care or follow-up. The receptionist was also incredibly unhelpful and rude, showing no empathy or professionalism. I felt dismissed, ignored, and unwelcome. This experience has had a serious impact on my well-being, and I will be pursuing a formal complaint and considering legal action. No one should be treated this way, especially in a healthcare setting. I strongly advise others to avoid this practice. The staff lack both the skills and the compassion required for their roles.

Terrible. Not sure what has happened with this dental practice, from the front desk and throughout, the service is shocking. Quality of dental work is below par, leaving you in more pain with more issues. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

A real disgrace. I registered last year and, due to personal issues, had to cancel two appointments. In February, they called me to tell me the dentist I was assigned to was no longer in the office. Today (June 16, 2025) I called to see what would happen with my next appointment. Today, they told me I had to find another dentist and that they wouldn't refund the £20 I paid to register... without even having had a single appointment... terrible customer service.

Dentist is lovely but on average my appointments are 30-40 minutes late. Their timekeeping is shocking. Not easy to sit with your kids in the waiting room for that long either when it's their appointments.

Avoid like the plague! This used to be such a good dental practice but since losing one dentist it has become atrocious. Since December I've had to nurse a broken tooth and had several appointments and two attempted extractions, leaving me in more pain and on antibiotics. Absolutely useless! After wasting over £125 on this lot, I went to a new dentist and after 25 minutes the tooth was extracted painlessly. I'll never set foot in Newtongrange Dental again!
