I see that the practice gets very mixed reviews, but for me and my little family the experience so far was outstanding; granted no serious interventions so far, so cannot judge about that, but hygiene, general checkups, and wisdom teeth extraction all went very smooth and professional. The wait times are somewhat on a longer side, but that's an NHS issue in general, not the practice's :)

Repeated negative experiences with this practice. Their overall problem solving abilities and communications demonstrated to me have been thoroughly disappointing and inconsiderate. I have been in unnecessary and prolonged pain due to the poor organisation and negligence of Clarence Road Dental Practice and will be submitting a formal complaint. I urge you to look elsewhere for a more caring and considerate practice. I have been a life-long registered patient at this practice. On 02/06/2025 I had an appointment regarding pain in my back teeth and recurrent gum inflammation and infections due to my wisdom teeth partially erupting. They said I would need all four teeth removing and to book in with them for an X-ray. They were getting a new machine, so I had to wait a month for an x-ray appointment in order to add to a referral form. I had my X-rays on 01/07/2025. They then said that they would send a referral off and I would have an appointment for extractions in 6-8 weeks. I called up on 01/09/2025 (8 weeks later) to ask for a referral update and they said they couldn’t find me on the system! They had not sent my referral off, so I had waited two whole months for nothing. If I wouldn’t have called up, who knows how long I would’ve still been waiting for. They said they would send the referral off and call back to update me. I called up again on 17/09/2025 as I hadn’t received any communications or updates from the practice. The lady on the phone said she would speak to “H” and to leave it with her. They eventually called me back on 22/09/2025 to let me know they hadn’t been able to send a referral off as my dentist is in Chesterfield and I am at university in Bristol and my GP address is here. Surely they have had university students before? I feel it is extremely unreasonable that I’ve had to be in pain for so long whilst they’ve taken their time (forgetting to send my referral off) and then trying to no avail to send a referral off and try to rectify these issues? They asked me to provide my GP’s address and contact details so they could call them and ask for help. Clarence Road called me a week later on 29/09/2025 to ask for my address in Bristol. Called them on 08/10/2025 and they said they have called a place called Apple Dental in Bristol and tried to send the referral over via email, however the site was having maintenance issues so they called up and asked for a different email that wouldn’t bounce the email back, and they have apparently sent it over to that email. They said they don’t know if I’m on the waitlist there yet and don’t know whether or not the practice has seen the referral they have sent. Said they don’t know what the wait times are either and to give Apple Dental a call to ask. So I called up Apple Dental to ask if they had received my referral… Finally got through to Apple Dental and they said the wait time for treatment would be 3 months, or I could pay out of pocket which would be £300-£400! I have already waited 4 months since this was supposed to have been sent off and put on the waitlist, but I don’t have any other options, so three more months of waiting it is… 11/11/2025 I called up Apple dental to ask for an update on my appointment. They said they tried calling Clarence Road back on 15/10/2025 and couldn’t get through to them, so sent them an email to say that they are unable to do the extractions as the procedure would require a hospital visit due to my tooth roots being curved so tricky to extract… I have photographs of the initial X-Rays from all the way back on 02/06/2025, and even I could tell you my roots are curved… so why was my referral not sent off to a hospital, as required? Clarence Road also have not made me aware that this is the case and now I will have to be put onto a different referral waitlist with a hospital in order to get these extractions done.

I’m disappointed with the service at this dental practice. Coming twice for nothing, first time I was told my dentist had family problems and had to go home, send time I was told my appointment is going to be longer then I was booked for. Also dentist doesn’t sound confident of the result after filling my root canal. So overall bad impression!

Had a same day urgent appointment on a Saturday, was seen to within 5 minutes and was treated very well, and asked if I was nervous about dental work and everything was explained to me very clearly and what my options were. I asked to be added to the waiting list to register with their surgery because I was so impressed with the care!

Joined the waiting list 9 months ago. Popped in today to find out what the status was. We were told six months. The blonde young receptionist (13.9.25) was very rude and without saying sorry I’ll be with you in a minute, just didn’t look up. Was stood for ten minutes. Without any explanation just said yeah it’s 12 months now. She spoke to me very condescending. Why isn’t the practice updating people. I find it to be very unprofessional. To tell us 6 months then just not bother getting in contact. This practice should not be registered on the NHS website as taking new patients. They clearly are not and wasted a significant amount of time that we could have been on a practice that is excepting patients onto a waiting list.

I had an emergency appointment here yesterday as my own dentist couldn't fit me in. Im a nervous patient and I cannot thank the dentist ( I only know as Lee) and the nurse who looked after me. They were so understanding and really put me at ease as it turned out it was a wisdom tooth I was in agony with. Lee extracted my tooth so quickly with no pain whatsoever. I am so grateful for the empathy shown and I am seriously considering changing my dentist to Clarence Road. I would 💯 highly recommend them.

Terrible dentist. Was seen fast don’t get me wrong, but I was in and out within 8 minutes, the dentist was extremely rough, he jabbed me in my gum with the sharp tool the use, and when “cleaning” my teeth he only did the bottom to which he dragged the spinning tool across my gum line and cut my mouth in multiple places, to the point I now have an infection in my gum, puss and blood coming out! This was my first appointment and I will NOT be returning.
