I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Spa Dental.
I contacted them today as an emergency for my daughter, who is in severe pain due to an abscess in one of her teeth. This is the third time I’ve contacted them about the same issue. Her dentist referred us to the Plymouth Community Dental Services, where some crowns were placed and extractions were done. However, the last crown couldn’t be fitted because a nearby filling had settled between the teeth, making it impossible to complete the procedure.
We are now waiting for an appointment on June 19th for a dentist to review the case and decide how to proceed. In the meantime, the abscess has returned, and my daughter is once again in pain.
Following the dentist’s initial advice, I contacted Spa Dental again today, as she had said they could do the extraction if the pain returned and the process was taking too long. However, over the phone I was told to contact the other dental service first, and only if they couldn’t help, to call back.
I did exactly that — I called them twice, but no one answered, and I was only met with an automated message saying there were no available staff. I then called Spa Dental again to explain this, but was told, once again, that I had to speak to the other clinic before they could book an appointment. I tried to explain that no one is answering, and I didn’t want to leave my child in pain any longer, but they were unwilling to help.
I asked directly: “So you’re telling me I should let my child suffer in this condition?” and the answer I received was, “Unfortunately, we can’t book an appointment unless you speak to them first.” I then said I would have to find another dentist to perform the extraction, to which the receptionist simply replied, “That’s not a problem.”
I find it shocking how slow and unresponsive this entire process has been — especially when it involves a child in pain. There seems to be a complete lack of respect for the child’s suffering or the parents’ concern. My daughter trusted her dentist, and now she’s been left disappointed and in pain. We are deeply let down by this experience.
