I have needed a lot of work on my teeth and I can’t thank the team and especially my dentist Raxit for how amazing he has been through all of the processes I have needed. The orthodontics at SmileWorks are good. Dr Horsley and his team are competent, and the clinic is spotlessly clean. At a certain point, their phone started going straight to voicemail during business hours. Our orthodontics were complete, but our dentist had raised a query that only SmileWorks could answer. We left voicemails, wrote to them via their webpage contact form, and emailed them. No reply. We had resigned ourselves to never hearing from SmileWorks again when suddenly, months after we stopped contacting them, out of the blue they got in touch and offered us an appointment. The receptionist said the orthodontist had been away on medical leave, and she too had been out of the office for a period of time. This information has made us more thoughtful about being unable to get in touch with SmileWorks. However the way our experience ended was stressful. SmileWorks should work on a front of house standard that lives up to its excellent orthodontics.

All happy when you are paying them regularly after that it’s Everyman for themselves can’t be bothered to reply to emails or voicemails to resolve issues I honestly give up with this place. (Probably will get the email was in the spam folder reply from them so they didn’t see it or they couldn’t get through to my number) Teeth shifted and the retainer made last time I came up did not fit properly hygienist even noted this on the system. No effort to resolve this now teeth have shifted wasted over 5k for nothing. Only plus side to this clinic is location this is close to Brighton so when you are depressed with the service here there is many pubs/bars to accommodate you.

Good dental practice. I have only had minor dental surgery, so I cannot comment on critical surgery. The dentist has dealt with my dental complaints well. With my retainers, it was recommended to clean them using an ultrasonic bath. But on another occasion, it was recommended to clean them using a brush and water. So it is not clear as to which method is best and I just use both methods. Contact with the practice is not good. You can find it difficult to make contact by telephone to re-arrange appointments, or for general questions regarding dental work. Answerphone messages and emails are regularly unanswered. I am informed that it is a busy dental practice. It can be frustrating if you cannot make contact easily. To date, I have had no issues with the dental care yet. I am concerned that I received contradictory advice regarding retainer care, and I hope this is not something which happens with dental work. I also find the hygienists give different advice to the dentist. Because of this, I would have concerns with critical dental procedures at this practice. I had issues where their systems failed to book me in for my regular checkups, but this was dealt with. There is one area of dentistry which is a challenge as a patient. There is conflict between dental health, and the cosmetic appearance of your teeth. They do not necessarily work hand in hand. Teeth whitening is not necessarily a healthy option, and teeth whitening probably causes issues with patients dental and general health. It is not natural to have brilliant white teeth for example. The advertising materials for this which you find in the surgery do not advice on this. Finally, when I was forced to move dental surgeries to this one for a second opinion, the incorrect advice given by the other surgery was to have a root canal. This was not necessary at all. If I had listened to that other dentist, I would have had serious consequences. This was explained to the dentist. However, I do not know exactly what happened with this information. I expect it was dealt with. One of my broader questions is how effectively do dental surgeries share patients records with the NHS. I would expect their to be problems here which can impact us negatively when things go wrong. So overall, they are a friendly, helpful surgery, who have been good to me. However, there are areas for improvement mainly with communications and the contradictory advice given. Thank you.
