Just had my first appointment with James and Paul, I was very impressed with the professionalism they made me feel relaxed.

UPDATE —if could give 0 stars I would, practice manager has zero clue how to manage staff or deal with customers. Have not completed my dental plan under the maternity exemption, as I’ve seen 3 dentists in the short time ive been there they’ve lost important notes and forms. Have removed a tooth given me a denture now left me without a bridge saying I cannot return to the practice for treatment because I complained. Honestly avoid avoid avoid, I will advise anyone to not join this unreliable practice all staff are rude and not trained properly and your appointments will be cancelled, wrongly booked and then god forbid you complain! I mean the manager even booked a wrong appointment for me the day before I was due which says it all really. Will be taking this further legally. Also a lot of the “good reviews” are fake you only have to look at the bad ones to see they all have the same experience. Really disappointed with the reception staff here to be honest. I call time and time again and cannot get through so then I email and it takes days to respond - what are they doing all day? This was amplified yesterday due to being called the day before at 2.40pm to be told to come in the following day for an appointment at 10.10. I walked in to be then be told my appointment was the day before?! How so when you didn’t call me to book until The afternoon! I then had back and forth with the receptionist who proceeed to lie to my face. Then saying the dentist I was meant to see that day was off sick, so which lie is it? I was adamant I wasn’t leaving until i was seen as I have 2 infected teeth and appointments that had been previously cancelled last minute. And miraculously I could be seen in 15 minutes. Luckily the new dentist I seen was very nice and helpful BUT because my old dentist had left I now have to return for more impressions of my teeth which had already been done so this once again is prolonging my treatment. Something seriously needs to be done customer service wise - it’s shocking.

CQC report June 2025: standards not met. I had initially given this dentist a 5 star but now the receptionist (Olivia) has mixed my notes up with someone else's and I have had to downgrade this to a 2 star maximum. They are trying to book me in for a root extraction when I don't need one! I think that I may need to return to my old NHS dentist provided they haven't struck me off. Even worse I now find out that they have taken payment twice- I'll have to follow that up to see if I can secure a refund. ********************************* Initial review (based on dentists not receptionist) Highly Recommended. Just had my first appointment with Fathima and Dental Assistant Paul and I am delighted to have found them. I was made very welcome from start to finish. Lots of parking in the High Street 2 minutes walk away from surgery. They were friendly and fully examined my teeth. They also took x-rays (at no extra cost) and explained the structure of my teeth to me. Therefore they went above and beyond. The surgery is in the process of recruiting more receptionists. Earlier criticial reviews simply reflect people who are unable or unwilling to book an appointment on the internet or unable to email the surgery with their phone number so that someone can can call them back when they are able to- currently answering 8000 calls a day- as you can imagine for a new NHS dentist in the area. I highly suggest making your first booking on the internet rather than over the phone (they will confirm it) and booking a follow up appointment once you're there and are happy with their service (which I am confident you will be).

I am very impressed with Dentalcare Winterbourne. They are probably the best dental practice I've ever used. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The treatment I've received has been excellent. I'm definitely recommending them to my family and friends.

I am a very nervous patient and although I was only having a filling, I was absolutely petrified as I went into the treatment room. However, I needn't have worried. Both dentist James and dental nurse Paul, were brilliant with me. They explained everything to me, talked about the weather, garden centres etc and really put me at ease. The experience was not that bad after all! Thank you so much. This is a really lovely practice. The receptionists are always lovely and the waiting room is nice and bright.

On time, professional and friendly welcome. Everything explained clearly. Mohammad and Paul were reassuring, friendly to lessen an anxiety and kept me informed of what they were doing and checking I was ok. For a nervous patient I was relaxed and made to feel looked after.

It’s been said before that if you can get through or past reception the treatment is reasonably good Telephoning for an appointment is a nightmare., Recently I went into the practice and tried to get an appointment for a referral to the Dental Hospital and was told the earliest was the End of December/ January 2026 I went to 3 other dental practices locally and got an appointment the same day

Very pleasingly treatment today. One filling. Didn't feel a thing. Dentist and assistant very pleasant, caring and polite. Receptionist very helpful.

Mohammed & Jodey were very friendly & quickly put me at ease which I consider to be very important. They are very professional too and gave me a lovely clean smile 😁😁😁

I wrote a scaving review this dental practice a while back but as far as I can tell all the issues I previously had have since been rectified and to a high standard. I had an emergency short notice appointment same day. Staff were very helpful on the phone and the team who saw me were considerate and welcoming. I'm really glad to see much improvement in this practice and my faith restored in them. Thanks again
