Had to call nearly 400 times (not even exaggerating) to even get through, then after all that. I get to my appointment and they tell me I need to find a dentist. Then I got prescribed antibiotics and that was it. They didn't check my teeth much and for an emergency place it didn't feel like they checked my whole mouth as I said the pain swaps side often. The people are lovely but the work I had done was very underwhelming

I requested a nurse call back from 111 at 5.12am, I got my call back at 8.15am with a mobile number for Viva Dental Clinic. They opened at 9am and I called repeatedly and got through at 10.10am. The line was consistently busy and I understand that is because of the demand for such services. I was answered by a wonderful receptionist who was thorough, professional, prompt and incredibly empathic. They made sure I had received the email (admin issues are something we have all experienced, and esp when you are in pain you dont think to check! So it was great for them to check this for me, so everything following ran smoothly). They suggested an appointment at I believe 11.10am, which I could NOT have achieved due to living an hour journey away, so I checked when I could feasibly arrive, the receptionist got me an appointment as soon as possible. I filled in my email forms en route, checked into reception at 12.19pm for my appt, which was 12.20pm (my bus was a little late). I sat for less than 5 mins, was seen immediately and treated, given antibiotics for immediate treatment and prescribed some amoxicillin. The dentist and dental nurse (dental assistant? Dental something, apologies I do not know their title) were friendly, empathic and professional. I was in immense pain from issues with my wisdom tooth and was so desperate and struggling so much and they all helped me so much. All for the emergency NHS service charge of £26 and some pennies. Then £9 something for the amoxicillin. I understand the issues we all struggle with with accessing NHS dentists, and getting appointments/through to services with busy lines etc but the demand is so high and I was seen 3 hours and 20 mins after Viva opened that day on a Saturday. 2 hours 10 mins after getting through to them and I would've been seen an HOUR after the call had I lived locally and been able to get there. I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to access this service. My alternative would've been a private dentist 30 mins from me for £70+ for an appointment alone. Thank you everyone <3

Phone is either 'Line Busy' or you just clearly get ignored and it rings and rings. Spent two hours calling at exactly 9am, now it's past 11am and finally spoke to someone just to be told to call earlier and they were fully booked so to try my regular dentist tomorrow. What's the point in calling yourself an emergency dentist if you provide absolutely no help to people who have an emergency. Useless.
