Genuine Implant Expert With a Very Calm Reassuring Manner I am a keen brass player, having spent over 30 years playing in Championship Section brass bands. Due to a rugby injury in my youth , I had been playing for most of that time with a bridged front tooth. Just over a year ago, the lateral incisor to which my front tooth was bridged suddenly snapped off. I was now missing two teeth (one front and one lateral incisor). This obviously made playing a brass instrument virtually impossible. My regular dentist was not prepared to tackle implants due to the bone loss that had occurred over 20+ years from the missing front tooth. He also told me that there was an ‘unusual’ nerve passing through the bone in my upper jaw which an implant might sever, causing loss of feeling in my upper lip. This petrified me and I really thought my brass playing days had come to an end. My Practice said although they weren’t prepared to do the implant themselves, they could refer me to an implant specialist… Amit Patel at Birmingham Dental Specialists . Amit did his own scans, and immediately reassured me that implants were going to be possible. He presented various options involving varying levels of bone graft and width of implant. When I dithered over the options, he took charge and recommended using thinner implants which meant they could be placed at the same time as a minimal bone graft, speeding up the whole process. A year on, I couldn’t be happier. My embouchure quickly recovered once the implants were in and within a couple of months my playing was back to normal. Whilst the process is not without some discomfort, this is very quickly forgotten once you have 2 ‘real’ teeth again. Quite apart from enabling me to continue my hobby, the appearance and function of the implants is perfect ! You very quickly forget that they’re not real teeth. Amit is clearly an absolute expert in his field and I couldn’t recommend BDS highly enough. He and his team are very welcoming, friendly and reassuring, making the whole process as painless as it could possibly be. If you are considering implants, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a consultation with Birmingham Dental Specialists.

I was referred to BDS by my dentist for an implant. After my first meeting It was found I needed a bone graft as well. Normally, I am bit nervous when going to the dentist, but Amit talked me through the procedure and I was happy to go ahead with it. After a few months after the bone graft I visited again to have my implant put in.
