I called the Yatton dentist as my old bottom bridge had broken. An appointment was quickly arranged, and I was asked for a credit card payment, which was completed. At the appointment, I was surprised by how young the dentist and her assistant were. She was very direct and advised that nothing could be done with the old bridge as one of the teeth had broken. She advised that the only option was to have a bottom denture and the removal of both old teeth. I agreed, and several impressions were taken for the new denture. When she started to remove what was left of the two teeth, I was very surprised not to have had some pain relief before the injections - it was horrible. I have never experienced this before. After about an hour of the dentist trying to extract the second tooth, even cutting the gums and including more injections, she said she would arrange for me to come back to see a male dentist as she was unable to complete the extractions. When I returned, the male dentist said there would be an extra charge of £495, which I said I had already paid for the treatment. He said this was different, and I had no choice but to agree. He then, without any pain relief, did the injections. When he removed the tooth in a few minutes and stitched the gum, I asked him why there was no pain relief before injections. He said that’s only for children! I did contact the practice having paid the £495, and I was given a partial refund of £199. When I returned some time later to collect the denture, the dentist filed one side to make it more balanced. I contacted the clinic and said it was impossible to use as it rocked from side to side when trying to bite with it. I was told this was normal and everything would settle in a few weeks. I was unable to use the denture and called to ask if I could come in and see another dentist to show it did not fit. I was told that was not possible, and if I was not happy, then I should see another dentist. I went to another dentist who advised that the denture was not flat, so it could not be altered. I was advised to start again. Now, after several weeks of several impressions, I have now started again. I am 100% unsatisfied. Total disgrace to the industry.

Expensive quote including unnecessary treatment. I wanted and paid for a New Patient Examination and was booked in swiftly and efficiently. Upon arrival the receptionist team were polite, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately following my examination by the dentist I was given a quote for £1,202 including two fillings and a Zirconia Crown. Naturally I declined the treatment as I felt it was overpriced and possibly even excessive. After visiting another private dentist in Clevedon I had 2 not 3 fillings and was told I did not need a Crown and paid a much more reasonable £200 for both composite (white) fillings. I think the moral of the story / my experience is that when the quote is big, always get a second opinion, especially when there is a nice big Porsche parked in the staff car park because someone is paying for the Porsche whether they need all the treatment or not!

I had an appointment today with Dr. Micky for a long overdue root canal. I had put it off for too long that the decay had gone very deep and had caused cracks, but Micky handled it very well with patience and thoroughness. Special thanks to Sophie too, together their supportive energy helped ease my nervousness. Truly positive experience.
