My husband and I have been with this practice since 1994 ( 28 years ) and my children since birth. It used to be a fantastic practice, we had the same dentist for years and were very happy. However, the service and standard of care has gone down hill steadily over the last few years and is now disgraceful. Appointments cancelled regularly at short notice, dentists changing constantly. Some receptionists rude and unhelpful, whilst others can’t apologise enough for the bad service. I have now found a much better practice that actually seem to care .

Dr. Ellie Williamson is honestly one of the loveliest dentists I’ve ever come across. She works at Wortley House Dental in Haxby, and from the very first appointment, she made me feel completely calm and at ease. I usually get quite anxious at the dentist, but her gentle and reassuring manner makes such a difference. She’s so kind, professional, and always takes the time to explain everything clearly. You can really tell she cares about her patients and wants them to feel comfortable. I couldn’t recommend her enough – she’s amazing! Her nurse is also great, small and blonde think it’s Paige!

Great service from my dentist Pamela as always, she understands all my irks and quirks and makes me at ease every appointment no matter what I have had done from a check up or an extraction.

Do not go to this dentist I came to make an appointment I spoke to lady at reception called Meg The receptionist meg said they were taking not taking anymore patients because I hadn't been since 2020. The reason I hadn't been was because of COVID 9 and they weren't taking patients anyway. When I called each time to make an appointment they kept saying no appointments even after they said weren't taking taking any patients so I missed two years because they said they weren't accepting any patients also because of COVID 9 and lock down. I never received any letters or texts that if I didn't make an appointment I would be removed. When I tried to explain the reception l meg said that I was been rude and asked me to leave. I don't believe I was being rude at all I don't believe this was fair of them to say this, this is why I'm making the complaint. I think she misunderstood me as I was trying to in an assertive manner as to what may have happened I believe this was un professional practice and getting the other staff to bully me in the practice. I felt intimidated and bullied by the staff as well I believe asking me to leave was in my opinion rude and disrespectful and getting the other staff to act against me was unfair. I have never been asked to leave a dentists before and I have found them to be helpful. I don't believe I was treated fairly or kindly by the practice I believe she might have also been racist and so we're the staff hence why she accused me of being rude . I should have been kept informed as to what had happened and because of COVID 9 they were not taking any patients anyway in the years 2020 and 2021 which Is why I couldn't get an appointment two years anyway because of the lockdown and they couldn't take any patients anyway because of COVID and the restrictions so I don't know what she was talking about she was rude racist and unprofessional and it was the same in 2022 when I tried to phone in they said no appointments. When I tried to get an appointment in 2022 they said they had no appointments what was I supposed to do huh it wasn't my fault. The practice manager was not in at the time and is on annual leave so I could not get to speak to any one not even a managers. I would recommend people not to visit this dental practice. I would recommend anybody in haxby not to visit this practice the people including the megladon receptionist horrible person.

Removed me as an NHS patient after 30+ years with no warning, heads up or anything. They cancelled my appointment due to covid lockdowns and they said I didn't rebook fast enough. Only found out because I called them up asking for an appointment. The receptionist tried to convince me that it would have been totally impossible to notify me before removal as they would have to contact 1000s of patients every day. If you are really removing 1000s of patients from your books every day, you have bigger problems. More likely, this was just a pretty pathetic excuse for their incompetence. I've been going there all my life, it's so sad.
