I recently attended the practice under my care plan for 6 monthly inspections and 3 monthly hygienist sessions. Prior to the hygienist starting her work I was advised that the new air flow cleaning process that had been previously been included in the care plan, would now incur an additional charge of £48 which included discount. I first thought she meant £48 per annum but it was actually per visit! I declined to proceed with the "air flow" method and opted instead for the traditional ultrasonic and manual scrape cleaning which I've always found quite adequate. I've never actually been impressed with the air flow method which feels like being water boarded and I've never noticed my teeth feeling or looking any cleaner than the traditional method. I find the abrupt increase by this amount totally unacceptable and I'd be surprised if many people would. I would add that the actual hygienist session and the dental inspection were both first class as always.
