I visit Lincoln Dental Care regularly, for the dentist and the hygienist. The hygienist uses room temperature water/mouthwash which is just right for my sensitive teeth. I've benefited a lot from the regular hygienist visits. The recent dental work by the dentist was very well done and I was informed of what was happening regarding the procedure, and progress, only to the extent necessary to reassure me. They have observed that I am a nervous patient, and they take care to ensure I'm pain free. All the staff are very professional, friendly and helpful.

I was disappointed with the way my call was handled today. I phoned to cancel my child’s appointment because she started vomiting during the night. The response I received was that cancellations “must be made 24 hours in advance”, which is simply NOT possible for a sudden illness in a child. Children do not give 24 hours’ notice before becoming unwell, and NHS guidance clearly states that after vomiting a child must remain at home for 48 hours. This should be understood automatically by any staff dealing with paediatric appointments. The issue is not the policy, but the lack of understanding and common sense shown over the phone. Parents need support, not rigid scripted phrases that do not apply to real-life situations. I genuinely hope the call centre receives additional training on how to handle unexpected medical situations with sensitivity, especially when children are involved. It would make a big difference to families who are simply trying to follow medical advice. ***Edit / update***** Thank you for the reply. My concern was never the policy itself, but the way the situation was handled over the phone. When a child is vomiting, NHS guidance requires 48 hours at home, so a strict 24-hour cancellation rule isn’t realistic in emergencies. I hope this feedback encourages more flexible and compassionate communication with parents in similar situations. Thank you.
