I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Octagon Dental regarding my Invisalign package. Despite investing a significant amount of money, the overall communication and service have fallen far short of my expectations.
When I signed the contract for my treatment, I expected a certain level of service and results. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency and miscommunication is unacceptable, especially since I sought out an aesthetic dentist for expertise.
I specifically requested clarity on the composite bonding aspect, only to be told I could not have certain teeth bonded, although this was not communicated clearly at the outset. I was told it could be discussed, only to then be informed that I was getting "too caught up on the aesthetic look," despite the fact that they are an aesthetic dentist. This baffled me, as a friend of mine, who was also a patient at your practice, was allowed this treatment as part of her package. It seems as though the practice creates different packages at the same cost based on what they believe looks good rather than focusing on what the patient is 100% happy with. It is particularly confusing that she, living out of the area, received her treatment after only a few visits, while I, who also lived out of area, was required to attend multiple appointments at my own expense for fuel and time off work.
One of the main reasons I chose Invisalign was because of its advertised convenience and minimal appointments, yet this has not been my experience. Typically, providers recommend just a few visits, but I found this approach lacking at Octagon Dental. Moreover, I discovered an attachment still on my tooth at the end of the Invisalign process, something I found myself that required me to book yet another appointment for removal.
During that visit, I pointed out that one of my front teeth appeared visibly longer than the other and reiterated my request for bonding on the two teeth I remain unhappy with. Instead of addressing my concerns, I was told I was getting "too caught up on the aesthetic look. And that it will look unnatural.” This response is particularly frustrating coming from a practice that specialises in aesthetic dentistry. I believe a level of complacency may have developed, leading to these numerous errors throughout my treatment. Additionally, I received contradictory information in emails, with one stating I had not had bonding done and another indicating I had complimentary bonding done, when my understanding was that it was part of the package I paid for. This lack of transparency and consistent communication has been incredibly confusing.
Lastly, I was informed at a visit that I had an outstanding balance of £250, even though I had already paid that amount online at the very beginning of my treatment. If I had not checked my bank statements myself, I could have easily ended up paying this twice, raising further concerns about the handling of my treatment records.
Overall, my experience at Octagon Dental has been incredibly frustrating, and I feel that my aesthetic concerns have been overlooked. An aesthetic dentist should understand the importance of both appearance and patient concerns. While I have received apologies for my concerns, this does not change my dissatisfaction with the outcome of my teeth. I sincerely hope that improvements can be made in communication and patient care in the future.
