Friendly dentist, quick but efficient. Amy, the receptionist, is excellent, super helpful and very kind which is definitely what you need when you arrive so nervous. Thank you.

I have taken my son (age 3) to this practice for 3-4 visits in attempt to familiarise him with visiting the dentist for regular check ups. I also had a general private check up with him there so that he would feel comfortable seeing me have the same checks done. First couple of visits seemed okay. I didn't find the dentist particularly informative. She answered my questions fine. I felt like I knew more about my son's teeth than she did. Fo example, I have noticed some brown discoloration on his teeth but there was no mention of it until I prompted the dentist to explain what it was and how I need to improve his oral hygiene. At this point my husband felt maybe we should switch to a different dentist but I encouraged him to give it another go. We prompted a conversation about fluoride treatment which should be offered to kids. The dentist advised to wait until he turns 3. So I arranged the next appointment. I got a call from the practice on the morning of the appointment requesting that I move his 3:45 appointment to 2:30. I explained I couldn't make this time as my son would be asleep at that time. I was told to come at 3:45 as planned. I then received 3 calls while I was driving. I couldn't answer the first 2. Once I received the third call I stopped to answer it. The practice informed me that they had an hour available in their clinic and so they need me to move my son's appointment to come earlier. She went on to say that if I didn't do that, there was no option but to rearrange. This was absurd. It makes no sense to force people to come earlier just because they've had a few cancellations. I explained my son was asleep in the car and after some back and forth I agreed to be there a little earlier than my booking. Their parking lot is too tiny. People block each other in - not ideal. I had to stick around until someone pulled their car out. I had an unhappy toddler who I've woken up to attend the earlier appointment. They have the smallest waiting area. We were called through quickly and I'd say the dentist was done with us in under 2 minutes. Zero rapport built with my son. She made minimal conversation at each visit. The complete opposite to what I was hoping for. She said to my son that she's putting toothpaste on his teeth and before you knew it she'd poked around his mouth with a tool. I'm also a clinician and we take invasive tests very seriously. Our patients are informed of all checks and their purpose. I expected them to be informative and to ask permission for anything invasive. I don't think these are particularly high expectations at all. At every visit there is an awkward 'are we done?' pause at the end because there's such little conversation that I don't really know what's next. That, along with the fact that we're rushed in and out within 2 minutes, I don't really know if I'm coming or going. I'm really disappointed with this practice: - they should build a rapport with patients, especially kids - they should be more informative rather than performing to the bare minimum standard - they send you text messages to say you need to give 2 working days notice if you need to rearrange or else you will need to pay. Yet they will force you to move your appointment on the day with little notice. - they show no concern about you exploring the option of going elsewhere, the response I got was 'yes you can go elsewhere' I believe the owners of the practice are away at the moment and they have staff running the place. It just seems like the staff wants to rush everyone in and out earlier in the day in attempt to leave work early? I don't see any other reason for why they would force people to come in to fill their earlier slots. I prefer continuity and loyalty to one practice but I don't see myself coming here in the future. Sad to say I'll be looking elsewhere to continue our dental journey. It's possible that this practice will treat you well if you are a private patient that will make them money. I can atleast say that they will give you sub standard treatment if you are under the NHS.

This is the first negative review I have ever felt the need to make, which speaks to just how abysmal my experience with this clinic has been. The clinic repeatedly hires terrible receptionists (verified and referenced in previous reviews from other patients) with horrendous attitudes who behave abhorrently towards customers. All in all, a nightmare customer experience. Upon arriving, a few minutes early, to my appointment, I found that my appointment had been cancelled and I was chastised by the receptionist for purportedly being late and arriving shortly before her lunch break. Despite clarifying that I had, in fact, arrived at the given time, she proceeded to inform the dentist 'she's only just arrived and she's 15 minutes late'. Consequently, the dentist considered rescheduling. This led to an uncomfortable and unnecessary exchange where I, once again, had to interject to inform the dentist and reassert that I had arrived at the time provided to me. At which point, another dentist offered to perform a quick check-up. After my appointment, the unprofessional conduct continued whilst I was completing a payment exemption form and scheduling treatment with the dental nurse. The same receptionist, after readying herself for her lunch break, took it upon herself to again go and discuss my case with the dentist. Returning, she smugly informed the dental nurse that 'the dentist said she'll have to pay a deposit for her next appointment'. I expressed to her my discomfort with her unnecessary efforts to further inconvenience me in her spare time, to repeatedly announce my late arrival in spite of my assertions to the contrary and her overall revolting attitude and demeanour towards me. All this regardless of my excessive efforts to be polite and cooperative, due to previous bad experiences with their receptionist and my quirky desire to have a pleasant experience and avoid confrontation when going for a health-related appointment. The dentist cited 'past issues' (again administrative issues on their side, which I raised at the time) as reasoning for why I would need to pay a deposit. I once again explained that I had actually refrained from making complaints in the past due to these 'past issues' and have always shown up to my appointments at the time given, or provided sufficient notice. I also had to publicly highlight that I am not financially capable of paying a deposit, due to the same reason I have an exemption. The dentist replied by claiming 'We don't have administrative issues'. In conclusion, I was told they would "be in touch," and the just-arranged appointment was left unconfirmed. All of this excludes previous incidents of direct abuse I have received from the clinic's receptionist, which was severe enough to justify a report being made to the police. I had hoped that this was just a 'bad apple'. However, it seems that it is Pennyhill Dental Care's prerogative to continuously hire incapable and inhospitable staff. This decision to hire unwelcoming and obtuse staff members as the first and only point of contact for patients is made with absolutely no care for the customer's experience. To enter an appointment with the best intentions of being punctual, pleasant and having a suitably positive experience and instead be met with passive-aggressive and intentionally spiteful staff, unjustified reprimands, financial penalties and revocations of proposed treatments makes for an intensely unpleasant experience and does a disservice to its patients. This hiring decision and permitted etiquette is made even more inconsiderate when you consider that a dentist is already an unsettling place for many individuals and that many of their patients are vulnerable. Please think twice about registering with this dentist if you or your loved one are vulnerable or simply don't want to put up with unwarranted inappropriate, bordering-on abusive, treatment. Thanks, but no thanks. UPDATE: The day after this review, pennyhill discharged me as a patient (whilst still needing emergency treatment).

I’ve had a bad experience with this dentist about a year and an half ago. I had a denture fitted and as it wasn’t right they adjusted it and damaged it. When I complained that I wanted it replaced which they eventually did. Then I was told I couldn’t use them again. Since then the Bridge broke. Even if I could i wouldn’t use them again. I hasten to add the receptionist was great.

Very Kind and caring dental practice ,I was having a very bad day today due to my sat nav sending me the wrong way and it was so hot i was feeling very unwell when i got here so the kind lady on reception agreed to reschedule my appointment , I am hoping my teeth can be fixed as i am transitioning from male to female gender identity and due to drinking a lot of soft drinks as a teenager my teeth are not good , I have faith in this dental practice as they have shown kindness to me which is rare in this day and age , Thank you Ladies.
